The Spiral Model of Leadership Development
Leadership Development is an Ascending Spiral. You begin with your most unique attribute, and in the course of time of learning and unlearning, rising – falling – and rising again, you develop other attributes..
Coming from a small town, I assumed that, to become a leader, only one ingredient is required to be displayed. And that is “taking responsibility”. I started taking responsibility of everything that came my way during my school days. I enjoyed Captaincy, be it a sports activity or directing a drama.
A step into the world of professionals, and you realize that there is more to being a Leader.
It is a constant development of self. It involves self-awareness; it involves identifying areas which need attention to be the leader "You" want to be.
There are no born Leaders.
Leadership is a Journey that you begin with that One Attribute, the one that sets you apart, and it’s a Continuous Journey that becomes beautiful and exciting with time as you develop and nurture other attributes.
The Journey you walk through towards being a leader further aids you to identify & develop leaders in your own team. All Great leaders have the eye for details. They are exceptional in Identifying that One Attribute in their team member, which can be further nurtured to becoming Great Leaders for the future..
